my starting time impression of my new 10 FCP-SR in 6.5 Creedmoor
Beginning off, I'm not a professional reviewer. So, please bear with me. I don't know the exact specs on this gun because they are not posted anywhere and are not in the paperwork.I was in my local gun shop and saw what appeared to exist a "new" model of Savage that I was non aware of. I picked it up for a closer look and saw that its a Model 10 FCP-SR chambered in half dozen.v Creedmoor. The rifle came in a Vicious Accustock in Apartment Night Earth color. It had a 24" heavy barrel and had a threaded muzzle with a thread protector in place. The barrel was too Not fluted like the .308 FCP-SR. Information technology too came equipped with the Accutrigger. It came with Pictanny telescopic base installed. Another notable difference between this gun and the .308 FCP-SR is the bolt handle. This bolt handle is a rounded pear shaped oversize type as opposed to the very large bolt handle that comes on the .308. I really like this commodities much more. This burglarize also has a ten round detachable box mag. It's a metal/plastic magazine that'southward exclusive to Barbarous. I had been wanting a long range rifle and this appeared to exist the perfect starter long range rifle for me. I asked the gun store owner some for info on this gun. He stated that its a distributor exclusive gun that Savage has made in express runs. Since this was besides chambered in six.5, I had to accept this burglarize. I paid $600+tax for this burglarize and Barbarous is currently offering a $75 rebate. I felt this rifle was a real good deal at $525 + taxation.
My plans are to set this rifle up for long range shooting. Therefore, I've narrowed down my telescopic choice to a Vortex Viper PST GEN II FFP five-25x50. Since that telescopic won't be on shelves for some other few weeks, I decided to just put on a cheap Chinese scope until I tin can go my easily on the Vortex. One time I got the rifle habitation I decided to go ahead and make clean it and mount the telescopic. The side by side forenoon, I headed out to the range to practise a lil barrel "suspension in" and run across what kind of potential this rifle may possess. I purchased a box of Hornady ELD 140gr Match ammo and decided to employ that. Ok, I did "my" routine of burglary past cleaning the butt after each of the kickoff 5 rounds and and so shooting three shot groups so cleaning the butt afterward each 3 shot group and and so to five shot groups.
First of all, the trigger is light and well-baked. A very nice manufacturing plant trigger. Second, I deceit wait until I get a skillful quality scope on this gun.
This gun has a lot of potential. After I got information technology on paper at 50 yards, I then moved the target out to 100 yards to see if my old optics, nerves and trigger finger tin make any type of group while yet breaking in the barrel. I managed a couple of .75" 5 shot groups. I'grand very pleased with the accurateness because I am very confidant that this burglarize will exist capable of some great groups once the butt is fully broke in. As well, another good thing, The soft rubber butt pad worked great at eliminating whatsoever felt recoil.
At present to the negative things. The magazine simply holds 9 rounds even though it states 10 rounds. It as well locks-in a little differently than nigh magazines. Not a large bargain, simply dissimilar. It too didn't feed ammo as smoothly into the bedroom as I would take liked. And now to the very negative,... In the twenty rounds it failed to eject "EVERY" circular I fired. It would pull the round from the chamber a couple inches then would just release it . This solitary was a big hurting. This was very disappointing, but overall I'g confidant that this is going to be a peachy starter long range gun for me,..... well, equally soon every bit it returns from Roughshod.
